When we were looking
for the next herd-sire at Benchmark both Doug
and I (Mike) went out looking in numerous herds.
We both visited them independently to find the
kind of sire that we both liked and thought would
work, independent of the others opinion. When
we both couldn't stop talking about a Prime Cut
son, out of a Rokn D daughter at Stevenson's,
we knew we had found him. Basin Prime Cut 080
is an extremely correct son of 1G42, with lots
of length of spine and a tremendous foot, he
will truly make a positive contribution to the
Benchmark program. 080 has a tremendous pedigree
that combines the maternal powerhouse Basin Max
602C with the carcass legend Rokn D Ambush 1531
and Summitcrest Prime Cut 1G42. 080's numbers
are possibly the best to date of any 1G42 son,
with a +1.4 birth EPD and an explosive +88 on
yearling weight, the calves will come easy and
have the kind of growth that we all expect. With
very positive numbers across the board on carcass
data we know that he will be the kind of bull
that will be right for today's industry. |
